On the road guide to antiquing

There is nothing better than hitting the road to enjoy some old fashion antique hunting.  Whether you travel with friends, family or even a new acquaintances, what better way to discover each others preferences, memories and fond experiences.  We call this favorite pastime “antiquing”.

We are blessed in the United States because we are a people proud of our heritage steeped in history and cultures from around the world.  In every town in our country, you can find a unique shop that proudly displays the words antiques and collectibles followed by the words “open”.

Now that we have established our motive, lets explore our options through AntiqueAlley.com.  AntiqueAlley.com brings the antique shops, collectors malls, vintage dealers, flea markets and even estate and garage sales to you.

Our first stop this cold day in January is the Apalachicola, Florida shops.  A favorite destination which comes complete with the best oysters in the world as well as beautifully restored early mid 1800s Greek Revival architecture.  Leisurely stroll along the downtown streets and stop into the many antique shops nestled among art galleries, boutiques and of course excellent restaurants and watering holes.  The seafood is served straight from the docks.

Did you know that the ice machine was invented here?  Visit the John Gorrie museum to learn more about how his invention changed air conditioning and the ice industry forever.  You can also enjoy a great variety of outdoor sports from fishing, kayaking or biking the many nature preserves to just sitting out back on the dock to watch the sun rise.

You can do a great bit of it in a day, but you will forever yearn to return to enjoy a slower pace over several days so as to savor all the sights, smells and flavors that are Apalachicola, Florida.
